England 2012    NPS Supreme National Championships and International Challenge The National Pony Society (UK) Invited the Riding Pony Stud Book Society of Australia to select a Team of elite Pony Dressage riders to represent Australia in the UK International Teams Challenge at the NPS Supreme National Dressage Championships in England. Katie was selected as the Australian Team Leader with Katie’s long time student, 14 year old Harry Rainnie, initially being selected as a reserve for the Australian Junior team. Harry was granted the opportunity to compete in the friendship team comprising two Australians and two English riders, and he certainly demonstrated his talent and capability as a rider. Riding Breisha Subachus’ “Under the Stars” he went on to win the International Teams Challenge, placing highly in his individual tests (4th Sports Pony Novice and 5th Sports Pony Preliminary) in which he was the youngest competitor and the most successful member of the Australian Team. Katie, as leader of the Australian Senior Team, rode Amanda and Kate Marfleet’s super successful Show Hunter Pony Valentino III to finish 2nd in the Sports Pony Preliminary Test with 68%, only 2% behind the eventual Supreme Champion Dressage Pony of the Championships. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worst for the Novice test and it hailed heavily. Despite the trying conditions, they still went on to place in the test. Both Under the Stars and Valentino III are half siblings to the legendary World Record holder Moorlands Tortillas. Mount Mascal Easter Indoor Dressage Competition – Essex Amanda Marfleet kindly took Katie and Harry to the Mount Mascal Indoor Dressage Competition as a warm up and a practice for the International Challenge. In the first test, they were thrilled to tie for first place on 70% in the Preliminary 13.
